Irrational Fans
After watching tonight's show on ESPN, "Catching Hell" I had to spout off a couple things. What makes fans believe that if they pick one person or moment during a game gone wrong to define an outcome of a sporting event? Steve Bartman was stand up young man that coached baseball and led a positive life. I was disgusted to see the things people said after his foul ball mistake that EVERY fan in the country would have made. When a foul ball comes towards the stands, do people sit their and analyze the situation and not act of instinct? Any irrational person would say, "No I wouldn't try and catch the ball", ya right! The Cubs allowed 8 runs after that moment in the game including errors made in the field and oh ya, by the guy pitching the ball, GIVING UP 8 RUNS! Another infamous game was the Buckner play through the legs in the '86 World Series when Boston lost game 6. Both the Cubs and the Red Sox had another game to win the series and neither did so. Both Bartman and Buckner were chastised by the fans, media and many others. Personally I find it sad and pathetic that fans would rather blame one moment and not come to grip with reality and use a little common sense and blame the team as a whole. These type of fans need to dig a whole and climb in it so the rest of us do not have to deal with IDIOTS like this.
