LSU a unanimous #1, REALLY?

After glancing over the Top 25, I noticed on thing, a unanimous LSU at #1. The point of all of this is that Oklahoma State gets not one single nod at #1 even though they just smashed Texas Tech by 60+ points and have been doing so all year. I know the defense isn't great, but considering they held Tech to no offensive points and that Tech had earlier upset Oklahoma in Norman is downright retarded. But we all know in the end the ratings do not really play a factor in game outcomes.

College Football Conference Mixer

Every single day for the last couple years now it seems that all we hear about besides NCAA violations is conference realignment. TCU was the first "big fish" to make the jump to the lowly Big East, bet they would reconsider that with Syracuse and Pitt leaving. The Big East will most likely lose it's BCS automatic bid due to this, great job Horned Frogs. The Pac-10, now the Pac-12 accepted Colorado and Utah into it's ranks. Now in their conference debuts this year, they are a combined 0-3 in the Pac-12 and 3-6 overall, bravo once again with that WEAK addition. The Big 10, which is actually the Big 12, added a solid program in Nebraska but they got smashed in their opener at Wisconsin, no surprise. Finally, the actual Big 12 who should be the Big 10 lost Texas A&M to the SEC a couple weeks ago. The whole point to this rant is the ignorance of Texas A&M as an institution. The SEC right now is the power in college football, everyone knows that if they have an ounce of college football knowledge. But, what most people in the country do not understand is that Texas A&M hasn't won a national title in over 70 years. Adding to that, A&M has not won a Big 12 title since 1998. Now A&M believes because Texas has control of the Big 12 that it will take it's "talents" to a conference where they will never win a division title, much less a conference title, once again, BRAVO! Note to all these teams jumping ship to so called better conferences.Think long and hard because more money and image in your program does not always equate to championships. If you want to ask the Yankees of MLB if money buys championships, they can assure it does not.

The Search Is On

This blog has pushed me to the brink to consider and now pursue a career in sports broadcasting. All of the knowledge and love I have for sports needs to come out and translate to a career. I watch and listen to sports on an hourly basis and I figure why not pursue it! So many others are making livelihoods speaking about sports and I figure this is a great fit for me! Stay tuned and I will be posting more often now!

Irrational Fans

After watching tonight's show on ESPN, "Catching Hell" I had to spout off a couple things. What makes fans believe that if they pick one person or moment during a game gone wrong to define an outcome of a sporting event? Steve Bartman was stand up young man that coached baseball and led a positive life. I was disgusted to see the things people said after his foul ball mistake that EVERY fan in the country would have made. When a foul ball comes towards the stands, do people sit their and analyze the situation and not act of instinct? Any irrational person would say, "No I wouldn't try and catch the ball", ya right! The Cubs allowed 8 runs after that moment in the game including errors made in the field and oh ya, by the guy pitching the ball, GIVING UP 8 RUNS! Another infamous game was the Buckner play through the legs in the '86 World Series when Boston lost game 6. Both the Cubs and the Red Sox had another game to win the series and neither did so. Both Bartman and Buckner were chastised by the fans, media and many others. Personally I find it sad and pathetic that fans would rather blame one moment and not come to grip with reality and use a little common sense and blame the team as a whole. These type of fans need to dig a whole and climb in it so the rest of us do not have to deal with IDIOTS like this.

Ignorant Alumni

So I have some people I work with that are Michigan State fans. This "girl" starts a debate with a co-worker and myself on why she thinks MSU is a better football team than Michigan. She begins to reference the past three years of MSU's victories over a Michigan program going through a multitude of changes. She, like many other State fans likes to forget the past, saying tradition means nothing and the present is all that matters. I begin to ask her about basketball and she says Michigan's sweep of State last year does not matter because of their past dominance. She then gets upset quickly and asks if I even went to Michigan, no I did not, but what the hell does that have to do with anything? According to this senseless individual, you can not be a die hard fan of a team unless you are an alumni...This about sends me up a wall, but I compose myself and ask her to name TWO current MSU players. She first says "Cousins? Wait, I think so.." and then names Javon Ringer who now plays in the NFL for the Titans. This is the moral to this story folks. DO NOT get into sports debates and then spout of idiotic statements about alumni status and then continue to be able to have ZERO information about the school you cheer for. This not only pisses off the people around you but also makes you look like a COMPLETE MORON. Oh and please do not act like MSU is a prestigious school, they have a 70% acceptance rate. Thank You.
